Plug in the filter to begin purifying the water in the tank. Next plug in a heater, the water should be kept at 78 to 80 degrees for the fish. Leave the tank to adjust to the conditions as it to be at least for three days before putting any species of tropical fish. A good choice for the beginner is to select a species of tropical fish that is hardy, such as the Zebra Danio. This fish is energetic and lively, and lives in companion with other species as well as with its own.
If the tank is looking clean even after several weeks, it means that the fishes are doing well and you will feel more comfort with the whole fish tank experience. Then it is the time to add some more species of tropical fish. Several other Danio species can be added including the Gold and Leopard type. Gouramis can also be added, as they are a sturdy fish that also survive well in the group. Make sure when purchasing these species of tropical fish, that you learn what type of food is best for them and how to make adapt them to your tank environment.
Some other good choices of species of tropical fish for a warm water tank include Black Skirt Tetras, Mollies, Red Tail Shark or Rainbow Shark. When it is the shark species, put only one in your tank, as they are aggressive and fight each other. Ghost Shrimp, Mystery Snails and Crabs all make a good look to any tank. |
